The incredible story of Barefoot College

Sanjit Roy was the son of a rich and influential family in India. After having the best education his family can afford, he left his privileged life behind to work with the poorest of the world.

Founding the Barefoot College in 1972, he worked for the contribution of poor people living in rural poor areas to the economy. 

Dedicating his life to improving the lives of disadvantaged people, he was chosen to be one of The 100 Most Influential People by Time Magazine. Barefoot College is also listed in The Global Journal's list of the World's Largest 100 NGO's. Sanjit Roy received the Clinton Global Citizen Award for his works, as well as numerous others. Also, Barefoot College has been selected as a reference project in many studies.

Barefoot College, Founder

Member of a well known family in India and with an excellent education background, in 1965, Sanjit Roy began to work in one of the poorest parts of the country with people affected by famine 

Founding the Barefoot College in 1972, he aimed to have the people living in rural areas in India contribute to the economy and thus sought to play a role in the development of the national economy.

Sanjit "Bunker" Roy  was chosen to be one of 100 Most Influential People Time Magazine. Barefoot College, also, entered into The Global Journal's list of the World's Largest 100 non-governmental organisations. Sanjit Roy was awarded the Clinton Global Citizen Award with his works, as well as numerous other awards and Barefoot College has been selected as a reference project in many studies.
